BATTLEFIELD 1: ‘Operation Campaigns’ is free for everyone

Since the release of Battlefield 1, DICE has been expanding the game with different and new operation modes.  While the first release of Operations campaign was free for everyone, The second one was reserved for players who hold Premium Pass only. People expected that any future releases of Operation Campaigns would also be available to Premium Pass players only. But as it turns out fortunately for everyone, that is no longer the way. DICE has this time, to everyone’s pleasing, made all Operation Campaigns free everyone.

It was stated on the Battlefield website a few months ago, that “Operation Campaigns expands on the fan-favorite Operations mode and its intense clashes between attackers and defenders. In this extensive experience, you will battle for supremacy across select Operations to unlock rare rewards.”

The changes that comes with the new release named, Fire & Ice Operation Campaign includes one operation which combines operations from the “They Shall Not Pass” and “In The Name of the Tsar” expansions. So, even if you don’t own any of those expansions of the game, you will be able to enjoy and experience the Operation Campaign which is great. “best chance at the most populated servers we can”, is apparently the goal that DICE has set for themselves.

A forum post, posted by DICE said that “This has proven to be quite a technical challenge as we have many different ‘licenses’ you can have, depending on whether you are a Premium Pass owner, or own individual standalone expansions. This challenge presented two options: continue to configure Operation Campaigns to be exclusively for Premium Pass owners, as with ‘Eastern Storm’, or to not require Premium Pass at all, as with ‘Fall of Empires’…Our goal here is to ensure the best chance at the most populated servers we can. We feel opening up the content to all players is the best way to do this.”

Also, If you’re a player without a Premium Pass, and play the Operation Campaign without it, then you will not be able to get access to the weapons as well as the vehicles that have been included as part of the expansions that the Operations are originally taken from, and will only get access to the operations that are part of this active campaign released, which apparently rotates on biweekly basis. Although this is not a worry for the Premium pass holders, who get access to whichever campaign they please at whatever time. Also Premium Pass holders will get some exclusive tools on every map. So you might reconsider getting a Premium pass.

With all these changes DICE has also reduced the threshold points for completing an Operation Campaign from the previous 30,000 to only 25,000, so that the matches move a little faster and demands less time of the players. They are also currently considering about bringing changes to the rewards also.
